How to Choose a Brooklyn Firewood Delivery Service
Picking the right firewood delivery service in Brooklyn involves more than just finding someone who can drop off logs at your door. The quality of your fires, the convenience of delivery, and the overall value you get all depend on making an informed choice. Here’s what to keep in mind when evaluating your options.
Check the Type and Quality of Wood
The type of wood you burn makes a huge difference. Seasoned hardwoods like oak, maple, and hickory are ideal. These should either be air-dried for 8–12 months or kiln-dried for immediate use. Kiln-dried wood burns hotter, produces less smoke, and leaves behind minimal residue. Some providers even store their firewood in controlled environments to ensure it stays dry, which is especially handy during wet weather.
Understand Delivery Options and Costs
Delivery fees in Brooklyn can range widely – from free delivery to charges of $75–$125, depending on how far they need to travel and other factors. Some companies offer basic drop-offs, while others provide door-to-door service or even stacking for an extra fee. For instance, Tarzan Tree Removal includes free delivery within Brooklyn, which can be a big plus.
Look for Transparent Pricing
A trustworthy provider will clearly outline their costs, whether it’s by the cord, bundle, or for additional services like stacking or specialty wood. Companies that offer straightforward pricing with no hidden fees are often more reliable. Many also provide free estimates or consultations, so you’ll know exactly what you’re paying for upfront.
Consider Customer Service
Good service goes beyond just delivering firewood. Look for companies that are punctual and responsive, with features like one-hour delivery windows. Reading customer reviews can give you a sense of what to expect. Positive feedback often highlights professionalism, reliability, and overall satisfaction.
Verify Service Area
Not all providers cover every neighborhood in Brooklyn. While many extend their services to areas like Queens or Manhattan, it’s crucial to confirm they deliver to your specific location. For example, Tarzan Tree Removal serves neighborhoods such as Flatlands, Williamsburg, Carroll Gardens, and East New York.
Think About Sustainability
If you’re environmentally conscious, look for companies that source wood responsibly. Some providers repurpose fallen trees or use wood from local tree removals, reducing waste and environmental impact. Check into their sourcing practices and certifications to ensure they align with your values.
Local vs. Regional Providers
Local businesses often offer quicker delivery, fresher wood, and more flexibility. On the other hand, regional providers might have a larger inventory. For example, Woodbourne Firewood, based in Brooklyn, sources kiln-dried wood from New York State. Meanwhile, Denny Wiggers delivers premium greenhouse-seasoned wood from New Jersey.
Look for Extra Perks
Some companies go the extra mile by offering additional services like firewood stacking, custom racks, emergency deliveries, or discounts on related services. For instance, Tarzan Tree Removal provides a 30% discount on tree services and yard clean-up when you order firewood.
Check Reviews and Reputation
A company’s reputation speaks volumes. Read online reviews, check ratings, and see if they have professional affiliations like membership in the International Society of Arboriculture. Also, confirm they are fully insured. Tarzan Tree Removal, for example, is insured and has strong endorsements from satisfied customers.

"Responsive, respectful, reliable, fair, calm, organized, efficient. Delivered as promised drama-free."

When making your final choice, focus on the details that matter most to you. Confirm whether the wood is kiln-dried or properly seasoned, ensure the delivery options fit your needs, and compare prices. Companies that prioritize sustainability, offer excellent service, and have strong reputations are likely to leave you satisfied with your firewood delivery experience.
